The University Challenge

FEL Group are taking on an ambitious challenge to remove 1 Million tonnes of CO2 from University Data Centres.

We have chosen this target with a vision to remove cooling energy waste and we’re confident that with the cooperation of the University sector, our innovative products and services can achieve this aim.

By surveying and benchmarking sites, we provide optimisation services to remove cooling energy waste from the data centre.

“There is an ongoing concern that data centre cooling is not monitored effectively. This leads to higher energy costs as well as additional IT hardware expenditure. FEL Group provide an easy to implement solution that allows us to get this under control and provide cost savings in the process.”

The fact is, data centres are often over-cooled. This masks other problems such as thermal risk and overuse of air conditioning as well as wearing out IT hardware fans.

This has an overall negative impact on the running of the data centre and results in a variety of additional and unnecessary equipment costs as well as higher energy bills.

By monitoring and optimising the site, we are able to remove wasted cooling energy, reduce thermal risk and improve the life of hardware equipment.
